SPECIALIST SUPPORT FOR SERVICE USERS WITH AUTISM AND CHALLENGING BEHAVIOURS
We provide a happy and engaging environment that offers a bespoke provision specialising in Autism, challenging behaviour and communication.
The service users are supported by caring, highly trained staff who work hard to build trusting relationships. They provide inclusive and Person Centred support within a safe and secure environment.
Our locations enable the groups to develop their community presence, focusing on developing the service users' access to, and ties with the local community and businesses. Throughout the week they are offered choices of community based activities, such as swimming, the library, local shops or trips on public transport.
Another area the group focuses on throughout the week is the development of life skills and personal independence at an appropriate level. This includes developing the skills necessary to maintain personal relationships, including friendships with peers.
We also work on developing the skills necessary to maintain their personal environment and develop their self-help skills. This involves activities such as identifying what to cook, the ingredients needed, shopping for the ingredients, preparing the food and cleaning up after the activity. These can often be messy activities, but the proofs in the pudding, they always want to eat!
When joining us, we work with families and key staff from the service users previous placement to create a personalised timetable This can include group sessions with peers and individual 1:1 sessions. This timetable will be reviewed after 1 month and then annually via the annual review process.
It goes without saying that we are in daily contact with all of our families and changes to our offer can be continuous to meet need.
