Hi all, last week was a week of 2 halves. We started on a positive with 8 service users coming in each day on what we hoped would be the start of the phased opening of Horizons. Although quiet and not offering a full service, it seemed to go well with relaxed sessions and lots of work around social distancing and good hand hygiene etc. We still offered the outside meet-ups for our other service users. From this, the plan was to increase numbers for this week.
However, as you will be aware, the news broke late on Thursday night that cases of COVID across Greater Manchester and particularly within Oldham had shot up. I made the decision to close Horizons again for this week and I will review it as the week goes on. Shelley then worked hard over the weekend to put a rota in place to offer everyone who wanted it some outdoor sessions this week.
I know that this is disappointing and that some families have felt let down by my decision. I can only say again that the safety of all our service users, families and staff has to come first and that is what I made the decision on.
We are planning for the coming weeks and we will try to get the information out to you as quickly as we can but, as you will appreciate, sometimes this is out of our hands and the situation can change from hour to hour.
Keep safe and hope to see you soon,
Head of Centre
