Following Graham’s update on 26th June (available here), please find the latest news on Horizons for families below..
Hi all, firstly I would like to say how nice it has been to see so many service users, families and staff at the open air meetings that have been taking place in the parks. The feedback has been really positive. For those of you who have not been asked yet, your key worker will be contacting you this week. Key workers will also be talking to you this week about offering some individual or small group times outside over the next few weeks.
As for opening the building, we are getting closer and now have a date ~ the week beginning 27th July. This will be for a small number of service users who will be accessing a reduced service. By the end of this week, our key workers will have contacted you to let you know if you are part of the first group returning. We will be reviewing the situation on a daily basis to see how we can safely open for more service users.
The decision on who will be in the first group to return to the building will be made based on the service users, staff and building risk assessments that have been completed, all 3 of which are ongoing and are subject to change at any time. This is not an easy process and the decision will be very difficult but I can assure you that it will be made based on what is the safest for all involved. The first group will be made up of service users who understand social distancing and do not need any close-up support.
When you come into the building, you will notice a change to the layout of the ground floor. Reception will now be in front of you when you come through the doors and a new room is being built on the right. This is to accommodate the expected increase in the number of service users over the next 3 years, as well as giving more space to our current groups. Please bear with us while the work is being carried out. Some groups will also be moving rooms within the building and I will give you more information on this before it happens.
Please keep safe and thank you for your patience and understanding over the last few months.
From all at Horizons, we hope to see you soon.
