It may only have been a short week at Horizons but that didn’t stop our young people fitting plenty in! Jeff’s group made the most of their community access sessions and had a great time at Chadderton Hall Park, enjoying a walk and a bit of fun too..

They then spent a lovely time in the afternoon at Pets at Home looking at the fish, mice, rabbits and all the small furry friends….watch out, John, it sounds as though they might have been sizing up a new pet for Horizons..

..before heading off to McDonalds for a well-deserved snack for all the hard work everyone had done in their busy day. We think we may have to go along on their outing next week!

Gary’s group have been helping out the Future Finders and Horizons staff with their Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) training..

The methods of Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) fit broadly into the in-work support element of the ‘Supported Employment’ approach. The programme was originally devised by Dr Marc Gold, an American Psychologist who conducted his pioneering research in the mid 1970s and early 1980s. More info about this very interesting approach to skills development can be found here. The group even managed to get to grips with assembling bike brakes, turning a collection of parts into the finished brakes..

We’re looking forward to seeing what they turn their hands to next!

Have a lovely weekend  🙂
