It is great to be back after my holiday and the countdown for Christmas has now officially begun! Although the students at Medtia Square had a break for half term, it was business as usual for the young people at Horizons last week.

At the Learning Centre, Hayley’s group have been busy baking nice treats, making spooky crafts and getting creative carving pumpkins..

They have enjoyed their walks out in the community to the café and Alexandra Park..

As you can see, Akbar particularly enjoyed his first visit to Ability Wheelz..

The group have also been working on their living skills, making their own meals, washing up and helping with the laundry and cleaning at Horizons..

They also made sure they had time to relax and unwind after all that hard work..

The trip to Blackpool Zoo was a great success and I would like to send a huge ‘thank you!’ to Emma and the team for organising this fantastic day out. We have an album of all the photos on our Facebook page here but just to give you a taste of their adventures..

Finally, we have another insight into the goings on from the first floor with our technical whizz kids in Digit4ll! Over to you, Mr Bright…

Another busy week in Digit4ll at Medtia Square! This week the IT pathway have been preparing for the ‘big sell’ at Christmas, planning their marketing strategy for selling personalised mugs, t-shirts and canvases. The students all have different roles within the New Bridge Printers enterprise, whether it be on the marketing team, the design team or the production team and they have all been very busy..

One of their tasks was to create Christmas themed posters to promote the products we create and sell. In Digit4ll we always involve everyone and allow them to vote for their favourite design. This week they voted for 3 different posters to be used in the build-up to Christmas and here you can see the winning designs by Joshua..

..and Jordan..

I’m sure you’ll agree they’re all great posters.

So, if you think a personalised mug, t-shirt or canvas would make a good Christmas present for someone you know this year, please get your orders in early to avoid disappointment (last year we struggled to cope with the late demand). If you have any queries regarding a printing job, please drop us an email to nbprinters@newbridgegroup.org or call us on 0161 883 2403.

Elsewhere on the IT pathway, our students have been working hard in the editing studio creating a range of different videos for different projects. Elliot and Joshua have nearly completed editing the promotional video for Digit4ll, Lewis and Sufyaan are helping create the Future Finders film and Luke has this week finished editing the Sports Day 2016 video..

This was a highlights film of the New Bridge Group Sports Day which took place during the last week of the summer term. Filmed and edited by the Digit4ll students as part of their New Bridge Productions enterprise, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s another very professional film to add to our show reel..

If you are interested in seeing some of the other films made by New Bridge Productions, check out their Vimeo page here. Please pass on our details (phone – 0161 883 2403 or email – nbproductions@newbridgegroup.org) to any businesses or agencies you know that might be interested in having a promotional video made. We specialise in filming shows and events, creating web videos as well as promotional videos of any kind.

A final well done to all the students on the IT Pathway! Have a great weekend.

On Thursday 17th November we will be holding an open evening at Medtia Square for young people and their families who may be interested in joining Horizons or Future Finders after they leave New Bridge next summer. If you haven’t received an invitation and are interested in coming along, please do get in touch with me by calling 0161 883 2403.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend… I am hoping that the rain clears up as I am off to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to sing with my choir and do a bucket collection for The Christie Hospital – fingers crossed for a dry day with lots of generous donations!
