It is lovely to be back at Medtia Square this week and goodness, what a week it has been! I would like to officially welcome all the young people and staff who are now based here – these include our Digit4ll, Lumenus and Activ8 Key Stage 5 Pathways and a number of new support staff, key workers and job coaches. The building has been a hive of activity all week and the young people are all settling in really well.

From next week, I will be updating you weekly on what each group based here at Medtia have been up to and this will be accompanied by lots of fabulous photos (I have given them a week to settle in before I start reporting fully).

This week, I would like to inform you of yet another New Bridge initiative which will be starting shortly and will have a huge impact on the young people based here at Medtia. We are thrilled to be able to announce that as of Monday 26th September, we will be launching a brand new café called ‘The Atrium’ which is based in the new First Choice Homes building on Union Street. The building is literally across the road from us and the lovely modern café will be providing food and refreshments to over 300 First Choice Homes staff. Here are a few photos to give you a taste…

This fantastic new facility will offer many things to our Group, not least some fantastic work placements for our young people based at Horizons and our Future Finders interns. Placements will be available in the kitchens, at front of house and on our daily trolley run which will provide snacks and drinks to staff around the building. We will also be preparing hot meals daily for young people and staff at Medtia and offering a delivery service to staff at other sites across the Group. In addition, we will be able to provide buffets and external catering for conferences and events, so please do get in touch if this is something that you might be interested in. I will keep you updated on how you can order hot meals for young people based here at Medtia.

We are extremely excited to have this opportunity and after going through the tendering process and beating off the local competition, we are really looking forward to launching in two weeks’ time! As always, we continue to look for new openings that place our young people in the heart of the community and offer opportunities to move into paid employment and independent volunteering. This new venture is really going to add to our current offer and we are looking forward to updating you on its success over the coming weeks and months.
