We thought you might like to see a taste of what we’ve been up to here at Horizons while Daniel is away on holiday……

We’ve certainly been having plenty of fun at the Learning Centre – we’ve been covering everything in flour (sorry, that should have said we’ve been baking cakes)..

Over at Medtia Square we’ve been getting ready for our Olympic inspired sports event on the 16th and the actual Olympics at Rio..

We’ve been busy ‘upcycling’ waste packaging materials to make an Olympics display for the 3rd floor with the help of Lisa..

Visitors to Alexandra Park on Tuesday could have been forgiven for thinking it was under wheeled invasion as the combined forces of Emma’s, Jeff’s and our new Key Worker, Shelley’s groups together with a few hangers-on had a brilliant time at Ability Wheelz..

We have finally delivered the last of the comfort packs that we’ve been putting together for the Macmillan nurses at the Royal Oldham Hospital. We have really enjoyed carefully assembling the packs over the last few months – with 8 different essentials in every pack that’s 8,000 items we’ve sorted out!! Jayce, Andrew and Josh proudly handed over the last boxes to Mark, the hospital’s store warehouse manager..

Well done to everyone who helped complete such a massive task, you’ve done a great job! Talking of working hard, the young people volunteering at Dr Kershaw’s charity shop have also been extremely busy. Although they are normally based at the Oldham branch it is being moved to a better position in the town centre so our group has been helping out at the Chadderton shop instead..

Jane, the shop manager at Chadderton, has made everyone feel very welcome and our young people are really enjoying their new placement.

You’ll be pleased to hear that Emma’s group are keeping a careful eye on the polytunnel down at New Bridge School and making steady progress with its rehabilitation..
