This week has been filled with lots of fun in the sunshine… well until today! What a lovely summer we had!

At Horizons Jeff’s group have had a busy week with all their regular activities made even more enjoyable by the lovely hot sunny weather! For their community access outings they made sure to bring their sun cream and drank plenty during their outing to Ability Wheelz..

They then had a day out in Ashton for a great session at Hollywood Bowl..

..followed by a visit to McDonalds before catching the bus back to Oldham and fitting in a spot of town centre shopping..

They are looking forward to welcoming the new young people who be joining their group on some transition visits next week and showing them their favourite community access places.

Shelley’s group have had a busy week with community access, trampolining and cooking and they enjoyed meeting all the new young people from the Learning Centre who came on transition visits and joined them for a cooking session and a walk to the library..

Emma’s group have also been out and about, doing the shopping..

..and having a lovely time in the park..

I have mentioned the start of a new pre-internship course for Key Stage 5 students in Years 12/13/14 a few times in this blog. We have now sent letters home to families of the young people who have been selected for this exciting new pathway and we will be holding an open afternoon next Tuesday where young people and their families can come to see myself, Richard and some of our job coaches to find out more about the course. The Employability Pathway will launch in September and is designed to give our young people more work skills whilst on long term term placements with businesses across Oldham. It’s another exciting project and I am looking forward to getting started after the Summer holidays.

Our Bridging the Gap students at Manchester Metropolitan University have a big week ahead as they prepare for their graduation on Thursday. I am looking forward to sharing pictures of the young people in their cap and gowns in next week’s blog! This week, they have enjoyed an end of year trip to the Manchester Museum and it looks like they had fun..

Our Future Finders are also coming to the end of their time with us – their last day is next Friday, just before we head off to Salou for an end of year reward trip. I will save my farewell sentiments until next week’s blog but needless to say, we will miss these fantastic students so much!

Congratulations to our ‘Worker of the Week’ Cameron Rowley for his outstanding customer service skills in The Atrium. He is extremely friendly to our customers and is always willing to come over and do extra shifts when we are busy, well done Cameron! Unfortunately we didn’t manage to catch him for a picture but we’ll try again on Monday…

Well, here is hoping for a bit more sunshine this weekend. Have a good one!
