Well another week has passed and it has been a great one for us all here at New Bridge Horizons and on the Future Finders Course.

We have implemented a brand new timetable at New Bridge Horizons this week and introduced a daily breakfast club and new lunch time activities. The young people have chosen a menu for the breakfast club and have been enjoying cooking and eating hot snacks each morning. We have sent a letter home with prices on, so please do bring along some money if you would like to join us in starting the day with a delicious breakfast here.

In our lunch time clubs, the young people have been preparing decorations for our big Halloween party next Friday. From spooky ghosts to fang-tastic bunting, they are looking forward to transforming the building next week – you have been warned! Please remember that we are encouraging all our young people to bring along a fancy dress costume to change into for the afternoon and there will be a prize for the best outfit! Preparations will continue next week with our group at the Learning Centre who will be baking some frighteningly good cakes to bring along to the party!

I am very pleased  to inform you that the group based at the Learning Centre will be accessing sessions from next week in our amazing 4D Interactive Learning Suite…[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”1″ gal_title=”ILS”]

Hydrotherapy will also be available at our refurbished pool at the Learning Centre from the start of November.

With regards to Medtia Square, we have now reached the final stages in confirming our lease and we have applied to the council for a change of use to convert the building legally from offices to a new state-of-the-art centre for New Bridge Horizons, Future Finders and some of the pathway groups from New Bridge School. We are nearly there and we will, of course, keep you posted on any updates via this blog.

Our Future Finders are continuing their preparations for working life and this week some of the students have had placements supporting primary children at Hollinwood Academy. The students will be enrolling with Manchester College in two weeks to officially begin their internships and they will begin placements at the brand new Sports Centre in Oldham in mid-November. Exciting times!

My personal highlight of the week was accompanying some of our young people to a Wheels for All session at Alexandra Park this morning. It is such an excellent facility for us to access and we all had a great time, even though I may not be able to move my legs tomorrow! Look how beautiful the park is at the moment with all the glorious colours of Autumn…[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”2″ gal_title=”Autumn in the park October 2015″]

Next week will be very busy at New Bridge Horizons as we look forward to welcoming some additional young people who join us during their half-term holiday from other colleges – great timing as they will be able to enjoy our Halloween party.

For those of you who are on holiday next week, have a fabulous time! I too shall be away for the week and I am looking forward to some sunshine and cocktails!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone,

Daniel Wood
