While some people might be relaxing on their Summer holiday, our young people at Horizons have been keeping very busy! Lindsay and Will have been enjoying taking part in the trolley run at the Atrium Café at First Choice Homes with Tisha, one of our job coaches from Future Finders..
Lindsay did very well selling snacks to First Choice Homes staff, always smiling and showing good customer service skills. Lindsay and Will sold 7 items this morning and made £4.00..
Once they’d finished the trolley run, they restocked the snacks at the front of the café..
Sammy and Becky appreciated the extra help and Becky treated them to a snack of their own at the end of their shift..
The young people from Horizons are also volunteering at the RSPCA, providing nurturing time to rescued cats and helping with other jobs around the centre. Lauren, Mollie and Yvonne are volunteering for the Summer from 10am-12pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and as you can see, they are loving the work!
They especially loved seeing these kittens at 2 and a half weeks old!
Emma’s group went to see Mamma Mia at the Odeon in Oldham this week – they LOVED it and James the shift manager couldn’t do enough for them..
They stopped off for a brew on Thursday’s community access..
..and enjoyed a trip into Manchester to track down some bees..
They had a lot of fun in their weekly dance session..
..and recovered afterwards with a few games!
Jeff’s group have been working hard too. They have been litter picking around Horizons, keeping it tidy..
They’ve been enjoying what we have had of the lovely weather, going for walks around the park, swimming and cycling at Ability Wheelz..
They also had a trip down to Manchester on the tram, having a look at some more bees and a trip around the shops..
..and a spot of shopping around Oldham too..
They finished the week off nicely with some chill time on Friday, relaxing with the foot spa and iPads and a bit of ICT on the computers..
(we’re not sure if Jonathan had enough bubbles there!!)
Shelley’s group have been busy too, enjoying the sunshine for a picnic at the park..
..getting out and about in Oldham..
..and working on those all important life skills..
It’s not been all work though – they made sure to find time for some relaxation too..
We hope you have a lovely week!
