Hi all, I hope you are well.

On the whole, I have to say this last week has been one of the worst in my 9 years at Horizons. It started over the weekend when I had to shut David’s group due to a positive COVID test in the group. Then on Monday, Shelley and Kate’s group had a positive result come back, followed later in the week by having to close Hayley’s group. You should have all received letters giving return dates, if not please ring Horizons on 0161 883 2403 to confirm.

I appreciate the extra stress that this puts on service users by being out of routine and also on families, particularly in having to juggle work around arranging care. There does seem to be some better news coming out from Government around quicker results from testing but more importantly around a vaccine. We can only hope and pray that this will be sooner rather than later.

Over the next week or so I will be working on how we can use technology better, mainly the iPads, and how we could offer a virtual offer of some sort if bubbles go down again. Any thoughts or views on this would be much appreciated.

The one good thing this week has been seeing Emma’s group in and enjoying themselves as I hope the photos show. They have thrown themselves into their festive preparations and all things Christmas, from practising some delicious Christmas biscuits..

..to making lots of lovely Christmas decorations in their art sessions..

A big thank you to Dan who has done a wonderful job of our Christmas window..

Take care,

John
